William Shields of Southborough, MA is an Assistant Vice President within the Real Estate Group of Manulife Financial. William ("Bill") Shields oversees a team of specialists responsible for capital raising initiatives, new product development and investing clients’ mandates into commercial mortgage loans. His team developed the National Account Program and Co-Lending Platform.
During his years as a member of Manulife’s commercial mortgage loan origination team, Shields consistently ranked as a top investment officer in terms of loan production volume. He is credited with originating the largest commercial mortgage loan closed by Manulife in its history. Shields is a three-time recipient of Manulife’s Stars of Excellence Award (2006, 2015 and 2017).
Prior to joining Manulife, Shields served as an Acquisitions Analyst for Davis Marcus Partners, a privately-owned real estate developer based in Boston. Additionally, he was a loan portfolio manager and originator for MetLife’s Northeast Regional Office. He holds a BA from Providence College and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.
Out of the office, William Shields volunteers at soup kitchens and coaching youth sports. Shields currently coaches a girls’ junior high basketball team based in Southborough, MA during the winter season. Additionally, he frequently volunteers to teach on-line commercial real estate courses sponsored by the Mortgage Bankers Association.
